In June, the Hluboká nad Vltavou Zoo's Education Centre hosted a lecture by Marek Šmejkal about the causes of the endangerment of the crucian carp, its way of life and the decline of freshwater biodiversity in general. Participants learned how they can contribute to its rescue and how to recognize our crucian carp from other fish species. At the end, a discovery quiz for children was held, in which they had the opportunity to compete and win T-shirts with the "Save the crucian carp" logo.
There was also a practical demonstration of catching crucians in traps in the exhibition pond set up by the zoo and the children could see the fish up close.
We thank everyone for their participation and hope that some of the children will also become enthusiastic rescuers of the crucian carp.
